“Campaigns and Activism for Animals in Industry (CAAI) is a Bulgarian non-profit organization founded to protect animals and focus on factory farming. It was registered in 2017 for public benefit.

The mission of CAAI is to prevent as much of the suffering of as many animals as possible by influencing the introduction of systemic social change. CAAI informs in order to change societal attitudes and the way people perceive and treat animals in their daily lives. The organisation focuses its campaigns on factory farming as the area that affects the welfare of the most animals in the most significant way.
CAAI is the organizer of the National Citizens’ Initiative to ban fur farming in Bulgaria, as well as the campaigns Fur Free Bulgaria and Fur Free Europe, Open Wings, Stop gavage for foie gras, Challenge 22, Science without experimental animals.
CAAI is a member of Eurogroup for Animals, Fur Free Alliance, Open Wing Alliance, Cruelty Free Europe, InterNICHE, Asia for Animals and Social Media Animal Cruelty Coalition (SMACC).
CAAI is the representative for Bulgaria of the European Citizens’ Initiatives End the cage age, Save Cruelty Free Cosmetics, Fur Free Europe, as well of the international programs Fur Free Retailer and Chicken Watch.
Our vision is of a society that does not see animals as tools for human benefit, but as living beings with their own needs and individuality, entitled to a life of dignity and respect for ethical reasons.
We are aware that this is a vision that is very far from the current situation, so in our practical activities we focus on partial steps that can improve the current attitude of society towards animals and gradually bring us closer to our long-term vision.
